Undoubtedly, Even in the 21st century, women are still facing an immense range of domestic problems. These issues are not only physical torching but also humiliating and have many negative impacts mentally and emotionally. The following are some of the most significant domestic problems faced by women worldwide.
Sexual Abuse
Sexual abuse is irrelevant sexual behavior, sexual activity using force, taking advantage, or making harmful threats on the sufferer unable to give affirmation. It may even be called sexual assault when force is unusual and immediate. The person who advances threat or commits such offending action is known as a molester or sexual abuser. Many women are suffering from sexual abuse that is even known as molestation.
Often, adults or older adolescents use younger girls below their age of maturity to commit sexual stimulation known as statuary — rape or child sexual abuse. According to the statistics, almost 1 in 5 women has been raped at least once in their life; it even included completed and forced penetration. Approximately 78.7% of women reported first rape before age 25 while, 40.4% were raped before 18 years.
Limited Educational Access
Almost 31 million girls around the world are not able to attend school and are unable to complete the education. Gender biases still do exist in today’s era, where boys are given more importance than girls. They are made to do household chores and other activities that would help them after their marriage. Also, sometimes due to lack of financial resources, people prefer boys’ education and remove the girls from the classroom to help at home or earn money.
Poor medical care & access to health care
In poor communities, women suffer due to disease and illness because of the lack of health care access and vital resources. According to the statistics, women’s mortality rate is still significantly higher than men in many countries due to a lack of a sound health system. According to the World Health Organization, at least 800 women die every day from pregnancy-related causes due to a lack of domestic care provided to them.
Child Marriage
According to the estimation, almost 140 million girls were forced to get married at an early age between 2011 and 2020. Child marriage is a pervasive problem faced by women in developing countries where they are married before 18 years of age. They are denied of education and are made prone to risk related to premature childbearing. Also, they are made vulnerable to the violence caused by their intimate partners.
Other domestic problems include dowry-related harassment
Dowry refers to the cash, real movable goods, or property that the bride’s family gives to the bridegroom, family, and relative as a condition of their marriage.
According to the statistics, many married women are suffering from dowry-related problems and are suffering from psychological problems due to the pressure given by the bridegroom’s family. Often, if the bride fails to give dowry in the form of jewellery, cash, or moveable property, they are often divorced or beaten to death.
