Mad Max: Fury Road- Generally, men are seen as kicking the ass in the movies, but this time, Charlize Theron stole the limelight by being the hero in the film. This 2015 Australian movie is set in a post-apocalyptic desert wasteland that revolves around the plot where Max Rockatansky, played by Tom Hardy, collaborates and joins forces with Imperator Furiosa, played by Charlize Theron. They both flee from the illicit leader named Immortan Joe and his troops, leading to the disastrous battle. This movie is claimed to be one of the best action films of all time. It received ten Academy Awards and won the six awards for costume design, film editing, production design, sound mixing and editing, makeup, and styling.
Wonder woman starring Gal Gadot is a fantastic example of an action film with a woman lead. She displays excellent power alongside her supporting team Chris Pine, Danny Huston, Robin Wright, and many others. She, as princess Diana, ventures to stop World War I. In this process, she displays her great swords and archery skills on the island of women kept hidden and of which she would be a ruler one day. While we couldn’t see much of the Amazon warriors but, we could see Diana facing large troops of men in uniform and defeating them bravely. Her enthusiasm for strength, love for fighting are a unique form of women’s representation as a powerful image. This movie became 6th most profitable release of 2017.
Atomic Blonde starring Charlize Theron, is an action thriller based on the graphic novel The coldest City. This movie received worldwide accolades for its action sequence and Theron’s stylish and stunning performance, which won the hearts of the millions. Undoubtedly, this movie has earned one of the best female-oriented action films. This story revolves around the spy played by Theron (Lorraine Broughton) in the days winding up to the Berlin Wall’s dismantling in 1989. Her badass performance and brilliant spy role led to $100 million-grossing of the film worldwide and received positive reviews from the critics.
Aliens (1986) is a science fiction action film directed and written by James Cameron, starring academy award’s best actress nominated female Sigourney Weaver. This story revolves around a plot where Ellen Ripley(Weaver) returns to the moon where her crew tackles the mean alien creature, this time backed by a unit of space moraines. Its themes are classic and timeless. She has genuinely done justification with the character by showing profound transformation physically alongside carrying emotional vulnerability scars.
