As women have stepped into the exciting sports arena, they have managed to break every barrier which came their way. They are taking part in almost all the games and setting examples for other girls, and inspiring them to play games of their choice.

Tennis
Tennis is one the oldest and most widely played sports by the women. It is a racket sport that can be played against a single opponent(singles) or between two teams of double players(doubles). American women tennis players were compelling to have their own championship competition by 1888. Regarding the United States and Great Britain, “The Wightman Cup” was initiated as a national women’s tennis competition. Hazel Wightman, an American tennis champion, paid for the trophy for the event.
Though In 1924, 1925, 1928, 1930, the Great Britain won in the tennis championship; in other years, the victory was claimed by the Americans. Some of the critical female tennis players are Pam Shriver, Monica Seles, Martina Navratilova, Helen Wills Moody, Serena Williams, Venus Williams, Billie Jean King, and many others. Alice Marble is another influential American Tennis player.
Football
Women’s American football, also known as Women’s gridiron football, women’s Canadian football, or in simplified term women’s football, is a type of gridiron football played by women. Football is basically a team sport that involves, to a different degree, of kicking a ball to score a goal.
In this type of football, most leagues play by the regular rules and regulations like their male counterparts. But there are some exceptions: female clubs use a slighter small football. Females usually play on the amateur level in the United States. Women initially played football in 1926. It was then Frankford Yellowjackets; an NFL team employed women’s team for halftime entertainment. Some of the renowned female football players are Mia Hamm, Alex Morgan, Megan Repinoe, Hope Solo, Carli Llyod, Julie Ertz, etc.
Ice Hockey
Undoubtedly, The U.S. has been one of the most successful women’s ice hockey in international play. They have won gold silver in every significant championship except for the 2006 Winter Olympics. It is a contact team sport that is played on ice, in which two teams of skaters use their sticks to shoot a rubber puck to score goals. As regards to 2018, there were 75,832 U.S. female players. The women’s national ice hockey team was named the USOC team of the month in April 2015. Some of the notable female Ice Hockey players are Hilary knight, Meghan Duggan, Kendall Coyne, Brianna Decker, Amanda Kessel, etc.
Softball
It was invented in 1887 in Chicago, Illinois, United States, as an enjoyable indoor game. The united states women’s national softball team is undoubtedly the national softball team of the United States. It is regulated by USA softball and takes part in softball competitions both nationally and internationally. The U.S. team has remained dominant in matches worldwide, taking gold in three Olympics and the seven world championships.
They even won a silver medal at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. On March 26, 2008, the united states Olympic softball had their winning streak of 185 in a no-hitter thrown by Virginia Tech’s pitcher Angela Tincher. Valerie Arioto, Rachel Gracia, Ally Carda, Hannah Flippen are some of the most well-known Softball players in the U.S.
Golf
It was established 74 years ago in 1946, The U.S. women’s open, one of the nine golf championship regulated by the United States Golf Association(USGA). It is the oldest of the LPGA tour’s five major championships. This championship includes Women’s British Open, ANA Inspiration, The Evian Championship, Women’s PGA Championship.
The U.S. Women’s Open is the only event recognized by LPGA since the group’s founding in 1950. Paige Spiranac, Lucy Robson, Lily Muni He, Belen Mozo are some of the ace golf players.
